Sometimes I sit and wonder how it is that we get all tangled up in our emotions. I’m always amazed at how quickly they can take over and our whole perception gets skewed. It’s generally at that point the trip down the rabbit hole begins. Think back in your life to a time where a thought overwhelmed you, and all sorts of scenarios started to play out in your mind. How many times where you right about the outcome? How many times did you travel deep into the rabbit hole only to climb out and realize you weren’t right at all? That state of being starts with a feeling and the feeling turns into a perception , and the perception turns into a state of being. One of the goals to overcome these obstacles or trials is to rise above them. Not so much in the sense to take the high road and be the better person, which is a part of it. Rather rise above and look down so that you get an aerial view of what’s really happening. It allows a space for you to detach from the emotion so you can see a bit more clearly. Not everything happens to you in fact sometimes they happen for you. Not to harm you, but to teach you a higher principle; and to course correct keeping you on the path your meant to be on. Romans 12:2 ” Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good acceptable and perfect.” So there is no promise in that, that things will be easy. However, it’s through the tests and trials in life that give way for us to be transformed through changing our perceptions\perspectives. Our emotions change minute to minute so can we trust them? Life is not always about getting what we want or remaining in a state of upset when things don’t work out according to how we thought. There is that word again thought. What you think about yourself matters and is the food to your sole. So when you feel like your sinking keep the faith. We are told we already have these capabilities built into our being. 2 Peter1:5-9 “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue of knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self- control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.” God doesn’t ask us for what we don’t have, he has built this into our fabric we just need to use what we have been given. So sometimes we need to rise above so we see the whole picture and not operate with tunnel vision much like the rabbit hole offers. So for today lets remember two things, rise above…..and refuse to sink. Have a blessed day!!
